We are fortunate to have a major state college located here in Newton County.

Georgia Perimeter College is a cornerstone for the future growth of our county. This Saturday, the college is sponsoring an open house. School officials are calling it "Awesome Autumn."

From 10 a.m.–1 p.m., campus tours will be offered, information about classes will be provided, and academic and financial officers will be available to assist prospective students.

Just Dogs will provide free hot dogs and drinks, and there will be games and displays by local businesses. There will even be a softball tournament featuring teams from some of the county’s bigger manufacturers.

This sure sounds like a fun day for you and your family.

If you haven’t been for awhile or never have visited Georgia Perimeter College, you will be surprised by the first-class facilities on its campus. The school is at 239 Cedar Lane, a little out in the country but still in the city of Covington.
