The city of Covington will be evacuating residents from apartments on Lunsford Circle Thursday. The apartments in question have been found to be unsafe by the fire marshal. In addition, some residents have also been living in unsanitary conditions, which includes a lack of sewer or water service. The city has promised to help the residents find other accommodations, if possible.

The city is absolutely right to be removing these individuals. The safety of our residents always needs to come first, and we think it's shameful that some of our residents are living in these conditions.

The property is owned by Denny Horne, who has reportedly refused to bring the buildings up to code, and he should be ashamed for letting people live in those conditions. Now the decision will be up to Horne - bring the buildings up to code or leave them boarded up.
