Social Circle bypass

We are glad to see that the bypass around Social Circle is to be completed. (See our story at Covnews.com.)

This project had been stalled, but through the efforts of former Mayor Jim Burgess, it was finally revived.

One of the major roadblocks to downtown growth in Social Circle has been the fact that there is a main thoroughfare, Ga. Highway 11, running right through the middle of town.

Truck after truck cruises through on the way to some other destination.

According to current Mayor Hal Dally, after completion of the bypass in 2015, the city will be able to take control of its Main Street.

And there is no reason that Social Circle, with its proximity to Interstate 20, could not become a great place for restaurants and other shops that will attract people who love quaint places.

We believe that the city has the right leadership in place to take advantage of the opening of the Social Circle bypass and can’t wait to see the transformation.
