The Newton County Board of Commissioners made a wise decision at their last meeting.

 In doing so they set the bar high for every governmental agency that is located in Newton County and Social Circle.

 The board broke with an old tradition of the same old, same old.

 Just like every business in our community, the board is reviewing contracts to see if there is a better way of doing business.

 The decision to come up with their own contract for pest extermination services not only exhibited careful scrutiny by the board to save the county money, but also it allowed the contract to go to a local business.

 We may from time to time disagree with decisions made by our BOC, but in the long run we have been fortunate over the years to have voted in people who have been wise and prudent with our tax money.

 This decision by the BOC gives us encouragement that good county government will continue.
