Last week the Porterdale city council voted to end an employee furlough, allowing the police department to provide 24-hour coverage of the community for the first time in months.
We applaud city staff and council in making the necessary budget adjustments to see that this police coverage was reinstated.
Porterdale Police Chief Geoff Jacobs has done an excellent job of keeping things together during the recent budget crisis.
We are positive that the number one thought of Porterdale residents is to ensure that they have proper protection and to feel comfortable that their laws are being properly enforced.
It was the right time for this positive decision.
