Our thoughts...Consider carefully

The Covington Planning Commission has approved the annexation and re-zoning of the 167 acres of land belonging to Gil Gainer.

This recommendation by the planning commission has been sent to city council for final approval.

We have concerns about this annexation despite the promise that it will generate positive economic effects for the city.

No developer or plans that would back up this promise exist. All we can see at this time is an additional 167 acres of land that will be covered by all the city amenities at no cost to the owner.

We urge the city council to study this recommendation and to go over it with a fine-toothed comb before taking action.
