The city of Covington has made a sizeable investment in the redevelopment of the Walker’s Bend subdivision.
In the past, we have supported that investment, and we still do today.
The Covington Redevelopment Authority would like to see only high quality structures built in the subdivision. The zoning outlay developed by the group is right on.
We certainly hope that our local governments have learned a lesson. Allowing developers to come in to our community and build slip-shod properties should no longer be allowed to happen.
We encourage the city council to adopt the recommendation of the development authority on its dealings with the Walker’s Bend subdivision.
We also encourage council to be as stringent on any developer who wants to build in Covington in the future.
