Our thoughts: The National Election

"One man may hit the mark, another blunder; but heed not these distinctions. Only from the alliance of the one, working with and through the other, are great things born."

~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Tuesday the American people rose up and sent forth a powerful message.

They said that they want Congress and the president to work together to create more jobs for the American people.

Since the 2006 election when the Democrats rose to power and did nothing but obstruct and stop any economic program that then President Bush wanted, to the current crop of Republicans who did their best to do the same thing to President Obama, our country has gone into a tailspin.

The Republicans should not take the results of this election as a mandate for their policies.

In fact, Republicans would make a bold statement of change if they elected a new leader as speaker of the house instead of rehashing John Boehner, who now apparently has had a great epiphany and wants to honor the true will of the people.

American taxpayers want Congress and the president to work together to bring our jobs back home, to add no new taxes, to amend major mistakes on the health bill, to create an enforceable immigration bill and to listen, yes actually listen, to what constituents are telling them.

Anything short of this comprise will result in another revolution, and we are afraid that it might not be so peaceful if it happens.

We ask each of you in your daily prayers to ask God’s guidance and blessing on our elected leaders and our country, that they make wise and bold decisions that will continue to keep us safe from terrorists, and will guide us out of this economic recession that has hurt and crippled the lives of so many of our neighbors.
