It was sad news to read that a 10-year music institution, the Newborn Opry, would open its doors no more after its Dec. 18 show at the old schoolhouse in Newborn.
The final performance will be held at 5 p.m. and will be a Christmas special.
The Opry has provided the community with good, wholesome entertainment over the years.
Bob Thompson, who has been the face of the Newborn Opry, said the Opry has more or less has been a charitable operation.
We know many people will regret not taking the time to visit the Opry now that it will be gone.
We wish Bob Thompson and his troop a fond farewell as they ride into the sunset.
