We were relieved to find out that Newton County was no longer under the severe drought conditions it has been under for months now.
Restrictions on water use have not gone away, but they have been eased, according to state officials.
We have been fortunate in our area to have not suffered the same drought conditions as many areas of the state.
That is because of wise preventative measures by former county administrations and the Good Lord.
Fresh water is mankind’s most precious commodity; there have been wars fought over its availability.
Just because there is a lessening of water restrictions in Georgia does not mean we can go back to the old days of waste.
Thank God for our abundant water supply in Newton County. It is up to us to do everything in our power to keep in that way for now and for generations to come.
