Our thoughts... Standing tall to bullies

The president of Iran came a-visiting last week as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made his annual address to the United Nations.

Standing at the United Nations podium in New York, he insulted our country and our ally Israel. He again said there was no such thing as the Holocaust and that the government of the United States planned and executed the 9/11 terrorist assaults.

Some people would paint the president of Iran as a hapless clown, but he is not.

He is smart and conniving, a classic bully who enjoys playing and outsmarting the inept leader of our country, President Barack Obama.

Every time our president extends his hand in peace and appeasement to this bully, Ahmadinejad spits on it and bends it backward.

Iran is a country whose leaders are financing and encouraging world terrorism. They are providing weapons that are killing our soldiers, and have imprisoned two young Americans for no apparent reason.

Iran is on a fast track to build a nuclear bomb, yet our president just mildly threatens to take action.

With bullies you can’t threaten without action because if you do the bully only perceives himself as getting stronger.

Bullies respect power. We want our president to be a man and tell the Iranian leadership that as a country we won’t tolerate bullies who threaten and inflict harm on our country and that if it continues we will take whatever action is needed.

Mr. President, if you ever do have the courage to say something like this, please follow-through on your threat.

The world’s bullies just might back down.
