Our thoughts... Retreat

According to information provided us by county clerk Jackie Smith, the Newton County BOC will be holding their retreat at the Burge Plantation on Feb. 20 and 21.
As a civic gesture, Sandy Morehouse is not charging the citizens of Newton County a fee for their elected officials to meet.

The facilitators for the retreat will be coming from the Northeast Georgia Regional Commission, and surprise-surprise, their charge is zero.
The cost for food will be $28.80 per person, and  there will be between 12 and 15 persons attending.

The highest cost for a two day county retreat would be $864.

The preliminary cost for a city retreat, according to city officials, will be between $7,000 to $8,000 dollars. We estimate that total could easily exceed the $10,000 mark.
We appreciate the BOC for their prudent and wise decision concerning their retreat.
We continue to be more than disappointed at city officials  who blew this one, and out of  hard-headedness continue to refuse to accept responsibility for their error in judgement.
