The city of Oxford will dedicate their new city hall and community center on Thursday.

The citizens of Oxford have every right to be proud of their new city facility.

The construction of the building in these tough economic times should be an example to all the municipalities in Newton County of how good planning and efficient use of taxes and other municipal assets in the long run pays off. It also should be a good lesson to all the rest of us, that if you plan ahead and save your money and don’t buy or build until you have the money to do it, you won’t have to live in debt to have what you want.

The open house begins Thursday at 3 p.m. and the reception lasts until 6 p.m. The public is invited.
