Our thoughts on the Fourth of July
Placeholder Image

We are grateful that the long holiday weekend passed, and despite all the people and activities occurring with the Fourth of July festivities, there were no major reports of injuries associated with beverage consumption, firework exhibitions or rowdy behavior.

This is in part due to the efforts of many folks in Covington, Porterdale and Oxford who spent hours insuring that their communities had planned activities that provided plenty to do for families, and that is the key word: families.

The extra money spent in Covington for fireworks seems to have paid off as one of the largest crowds ever gathered around the Square to enjoy the festivities.

It’s events like this that help make our communities a desired place for folks to live and prosper.

Congratulations to our Newton all-stars who after beating an all-star group from Athens, again reign as District Champions.
We salute head coach Brian Digby and his fellow coaches, and we wish the players the very best as they travel to Warner Robins to compete for the state championship.
