On Sunday we ran stories celebrating the accomplishments of four local folks who made a difference in our community: - Snapping Shoals Electric Membership Cooperative workers Farron Head, who saved a woman and her pets from a burning home, and Ken Ellington who helped a lost girl find her home and family. - Greg Ellwanger, who for many years has donated his time to kids of the community through the Family Y. Ellwanger has taught and coached swimming and was named the local Y volunteer of the year. - And Jay James, a newcomer to our area who helped local Korean War veteran Victor Miller pay his utility bill. All of these gentlemen are in our opinion hometown heroes. There are even more people like them who every day give of themselves to help their neighbors. Without them, our community would not be the great place it is to love, play and work. God bless all of our hometown heroes.
