We ran a story in the agriculture section on Sunday that highlighted a Newton County native, Susan Hays Boss.
Her family is the longtime owners of Hays Tractor and Equipment in Mansfield.
Today, Susan along with her husband Ken and her brother-in-law Michael own and operate Boss Brothers Country Store in Loganville, a popular shopping place for agricultural needs.
We named Susan a Hometown Hero because she took action and created a trail ride for equine enthusiasts to help local cancer patients.
Through her efforts $13,250 was raised and donated to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University in Atlanta.
Susan also worked with Purina to develop a national campaign of recognition called Pink 50 that raised additional funds for cancer research
Susan Boss is a doer. We are proud to name her a Hometown Hero.
Boss and our other Hometown Heroes will be eligible in January for our Hometown Hero of the Year award. The winner will be decided through a reader vote.
