Volunteerism is something we feel strongly about at The Covington News.
It takes a village not only to educate children, but also to do just about everything else that needs doing in that village. This philosophy, of course, applies to keeping the village clean and presentable.
Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful is looking for volunteers for its annual participation in the Great American Cleanup on March 27. Groups spend the morning picking up litter around businesses, neighborhoods, schools and churches of their choice.
Volunteer groups need to register by Friday by visiting www.kcnb.biz or calling (770) 784-2015. Those who do will receive a complimentary breakfast when picking up their supplies at 8 a.m. at Kroger on U.S. Highway 278 or on Salem Road.
This annual event is not only a wonderful way to beautify our community, but also to connect with co-workers, classmates or church members.
KCNB’s mission is "to challenge, motivate, and inspire everyone to take responsibility for a clean and beautiful community."
We think that is a worthy goal. We’ll be doing our part around our neck of the woods; please consider doing the same around yours.
