We were pleased to hear that Newton County Schools passed adequate yearly progress after summer retests.

While we believe these tests are unfair to some and flawed in many ways, difficulty does not equal impossibility.

Teachers, parents and students worked diligently to instruct and learn what was needed to pass these tests so state goals could be met.

We hope the hard work and collaboration will continue next year so that summer retests aren’t needed at all.
