Leading future leaders

We are more than pleased to see that teacher Sara Vinson, of the Covington Montessori School, has taken the time to teach her students the value of not only learning about the great jobs that non-profits do in our community, but also about the added value of learning how to help support them.

Mrs. Vinson's class spent time talking with Tamara Richardson, who is the director of the Newton Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta.

Through the efforts of Richardson, the class interviewed many of the local non-profits in the area.

Students held a fundraiser, which raised $500 to issue grants to two non-profits of their choice.

Richardson agreed to match the funds raised.

As a result of their efforts, two non-profits will benefit.

The class issued grants to Future Farmers of America's Summer Wildlife Camp and to Prevent Child Abuse Newton.

Sara Vinson has showed great vision as an educator in teaching her charges the values of the real world.

We salute her students as well as Tamara Richardson for her extra efforts in working with the future leaders of our community.
