Honoring our heroes

"True heroism is remarkable sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost."

~ Arthur Ashe

This past Friday, Sheriff Ezell Brown took the time to publicly honor his troops, recognizing deputies and employees of the Newton County Sheriff’s Office for one to 35 years of service.

Also honored were the Rookie of the Year, Deputy of the Year and Employee of the Year, as well as the Purple Heart recipient. You can see their names, along with pictures of the event in today’s edition.

As a community we rarely, if ever, get a chance to see our law enforcement honored. Most of their work is done quietly and efficiently behind the scenes.

We appreciate our local deputies who work tirelessly for the NCSO in order to ensure our safety here in Newton County.

In our opinion ,they do a great job and we know our fellow citizens are equally proud of our everyday heroes. It is because of their efforts that Newton County is one of the safest counties in the metro area.
