Golden patriarch

On Father’s Day it is only appropriate that we honor the patriarch of Morris Multimedia, the owners and publishers of The Covington News, since 1986.

Charles Hill Morris Sr., who started his career in the newspaper business more than 50 years ago as a young boy with his father’s newspaper in Augusta, literally worked his way up the line to create a media company that stretches from one coast of our country to the other. Morris Multimedia even has publications in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Mr. Morris received the Golden Award presented by the Georgia Press Association and was thereby inducted into the organization’s prestigious Golden Club. He accepted the honor with his usual humbleness and grace.

We are proud to be part of a company built on honesty, fairness and a belief that individual responsibility was the way for a community newspaper to be run.

The employees of The Covington News and The Rockdale News proudly salute Mr. Charles Hill Morris Sr. on this award voted on by his peers. We wish him 50 more successful years of service to our industry.
