Times are still tough and many people remain jobless, but local agencies also continue their efforts to combat high unemployment.

The Georgia Department of Labor, Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce and Covington Employer Committee are sponsoring a career expo from 9 .am. to noon, Thursday at Georgia Piedmont Technical College campus at 8100 Bob Williams Parkway in Covington.
Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately to improve their opportunities for employment.

Those expected to participate in the expo include Apollo Staffing, Because We Care, DeVry University, ETCON Employment Solutions, Foldel Health Care Services, Future Staff, Manpower, Pawn Mart, Prologistix, Solo Cup, The Covington News, Waffle House, Wagner Service Solutions and the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
