We are quick to praise the accomplishments of the Newton County School System. Over the past three years, there have been major improvements in almost all areas of educational accountability.
So, naturally, we are disappointed that the latest ACT college readiness assessment revealed a drop in overall scores in the district.
Although we were pleased to see improvement in Alcovy High School’s score, and especially the fact that Alcovy had more students taking the college entrance test, the overall decline in ACT performance is not what we want to see.
We still have great faith that our school system is doing its best to help our children reach their potential and succeed.
We are looking to see improvements in future testing.
