- John Wooden
The president spoke from the oval office this week. It was proper for him to do so as that spot has been used by the last seven presidents for addressing the nation on national television about serious matters.
So when President Obama, for the first time in his presidency, chose to use this setting to calm and inspire us as well as to offer remedies about the ongoing oil spill crisis, we observed with great anticipation.
It only took a few minutes to realize that this was going to be the same type of speech the president always makes - it was filled with "I, I" and "me, me" instead of "we, we."
Fraught with empty promises and threats, it was a political statement pushing his agenda - an agenda that would cost the taxpayers millions and would benefit only greedy union members.
This president proves to us in every way possible, on every occasion, that he is not capable of being a true leader who can inspire the majority of the people of this country.
He did try something new in this speech, however. He invoked the name of God, which for him was a very superficial gesture.
The best part of the president's speech was that it only lasted 18 minutes.
