The United States was on fast track for the production of cheap Nuclear energy that would have helped lessen our need for foreign energy.
In 1979 that goal came crashing down because of the meltdown of Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania.
Although it turns out that it wasn't quite as bad as reported every environmentalist in the country came to arms and put the fear in our elected officials and until this week not one nuclear plant was approved in the United States.
That ban came to and end Thursday as a permit was granted by the NRC to the Southern Company to build a plant near Waynesboro Ga. This plant is projected to go on line in 2016.
The building of this plant is supposed to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels, that would be a blessing, we can only pray that those projections are true.
