This will certainly be a grand weekend in our community and the good news is that it is all free and won't take much gas if any, for you to be well entertained.

From Covington to Social Circle there will be enough activities in every community to make you smile and laugh and dance.

On Monday, there's good music on the square in Covington as the Newton County Community Band performs patriotic tunes beginning at 5 p.m. The performance will include a special salute to our armed forces.

If it's fireworks you want, you can catch the display Sunday night on the square in Covington and follow up with the Porterdale and Social Circle fireworks on Monday.

For some parade fun, Oxford will have the largest one around. You can join in, too. It's at 10 a.m. Monday.
Social Circle will also be having its annual parade on Monday followed by a big fireworks celebration.

All of these events are guaranteed to be fun filled.
Look for our booth on the square that we will share with Covington Main Street on Sunday. You can have your picture taken on a historic moment newspaper, and the pictures will appear on the covnews.com website on Monday.

So get your shorts and patriotic shirts on, and bring your flags and be prepared to celebrate our nation's independence in beautiful Newton County.

You can learn more about the events on Page 3B in today's newspaper, or go online to covnews.com.
