A century of service

In today's paper there is a special commemorative edition devoted to the 100 years of service by the men and woman who serve and have served our city in the Covington Fire Department. This section alone is testimony to the love and pride that local merchants and civic groups have for our fire department.

We are particularly proud of Chief Don Floyd and his father, R.T., who for 60 plus years of the 100 years of the CFD, have served as the leaders of that force.
There is a special ceremony at 3 p.m. today at Station No. 1 on Pace Street.

We salute the brave men and women who serve as firefighters, here and across the country. Cheers to another 100 years of excellent fire service to the city of Covington.
