What a drag

Dear Editor: Hundreds of Newton County homeowners have Social Circle mailing addresses, but no Social Circle vote. We, like our friends within the city limits, would be harmed if the mayor and city council permit a drag strip to be built within the recently expanded city limits.

There is a lot at stake, including the future of Stanton Springs, [Georgia] Perimeter College and the Ga. 11 and U.S. 278/I-20 interchange areas.

Who might the drag strip benefit? The owner-developer. Who might it harm? Everyone else. The owner-developer has every right to apply for city approval. The mayor and council have not only the right, but the duty, to protect Social Circle from harm.
