The Covington Lions Club, with assistance from the Oxford Lion's Club, did an outstanding job of facilitating the parade. From promoting the parade, to the long hours that went into creating the parade line up, managing the lineup, to organizing the judging and hosting the viewing stand in the downtown the club successfully managed every element of the parade. Special thanks to Ed Minge who has chaired the Lion's Parade Committee for the past nine years. The parade is one of many activities that Covington Lion's Club supports in our community, and we are blessed to have this caliber of support.
Special thanks go to the City of Covington Street and Police Departments. Without the assistance and expertise of the Police Department and its teamwork with the Covington Lions Club the parade would not run as effortlessly and safely as it does.
Finally, it would not be a parade without the involvement of the community. To all 150 parade entries thank you for all the effort and time that went into creating your entries. Entries included civic groups, schools, the faith based community, government, businesses, non-profits and youth organizations. The entries truly represented the theme of the parade - a Hometown Holiday Celebration. Thanks also to all those people who braved the cold, lined the parade route and supported the event.
As the community grows the Main Street Covington organization hopes to preserve the tradition of a hometown where ever one who wants to gets the opportunity to be a part of the parade. Thanks once again to the Covington Lion's club who makes the parade such a success every year.
Thank you all.
