Letter: Twas the night filled with fireworks
Letters

Dear Editor:

“…All through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

… Until approximately, 9:45 p.m. Thursday night when the sky above exploded into fury worthy of Independence Day.

We raced from window to door in our half-sleep, wondering what was afoot.  Our pets – cats and a dog – were petrified. Our dog Sonny is under my feet under the desk where my computer sits.  The cats are hiding in nooks only they know. We are awakened and not likely to return to bed time reverie for a while yet.

I understand from a city official who responded to my angry question immediately that Leadership Georgia was in town for the first time and the fireworks were a celebration of that event.

Well, thanks – or no thanks – for the notification.  This is ridiculous.  Sometimes it feels like Covington is just a stage for anyone’s purpose, and the citizens are just bystanders.
