Wyman H. Mims of Mansfield, passed away November 19, 2010, at the age of 85. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of Mansfield Baptist Church, and enjoyed collecting and reading different versions of the Bible and other religious books. He worked for Western Electric in Burlington, North Carolina, before retiring after nearly 25 years. After retirement, he devoted his time to his grandchildren in many ways - babysitting, taking them to school, and caring for them when they were not feeling well. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and wood work. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Social Circle Nursing and Rehabilitation for their kindness and compassion during his residence there. Mr. Mims was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn (Rigdon) Mims; parents, Fred Pete and Annie D.(Joyner) Mims; brother, Fred Mims; and his sister, Frances Atkinson. Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Mary Ann and G.W. Davis of Mansfield¸ Susan Frances Mims of Tifton; 3 grandchildren, Wes, Jake, and Evanne Davis. Funeral Services for Mr. Mims will be held Sunday, November 21, 2010, 2:30 PM, at Mansfield Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating, and interment following in Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd St., in Covington, Saturday, November 20, from 4-6 PM.
