W.J. Lane of Covington, passed away February 28, 2016 at the age of 85. A member of High Point Baptist Church for 65 years, Mr. Lane served as a Deacon and became a Deacon Emeritus several years ago. He owned and operated Lane Body Shop and Marine Services for almost 60 year, which is now operated by Mandy and R.J. Morgan, his granddaughter and her husband. Mr. Lane was a man who loved his family and his church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Lane is preceded in death by his first wife, Jean McCart Lane, his second wife, Janet Smith Lane; grandson, Larry Stephen Vaughn; and his parents, Aaron Bryant and Mary (Nail) Lane.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Lane Vaughn of Loganville; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Jennie Lane of Covington; step-children, Danny Ewing of Covington, Monica Lemoine of Oxford; grandchildren, Bill and Tracy Vaughn, Scott and Jennifer Lane, Tiffany Lane Allen and fiancé, Grant Loveless, Mandy and R.J. Morgan; step-grandchildren, Andrea Atwater, Robbie Ewing, Jodi Lattimore, Mandy Parks, Dara Penland, Britton Lemoine; seven great-grandchildren; brother, David Lane of Mansfield; nieces and nephew, Gayla Ellis, Tela Stewart, Kristy Farmer, and Brad Lane.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Lane will be held at High Point Baptist Church, 12025 Highway 36, Covington, GA, Wednesday, March 2, 2016, 11 a.m., with Dr. David Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in High Point Baptist Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family for visitation, Tuesday, March 1, from 6-8 p.m., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to High Point Baptist Church.
