William Ralph Henderson of Oxford, passed away April 22, 2010, at the age of 85. Mr. Henderson, an Army veteran, received a Purple Heart during his service in World War II. He attended New Life Apostolic Church, in Watkinsville. He loved his family and music, especially blue grass and gospel. Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his parents, Richard William and Mattie Mae (Hales) Henderson; one brother and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Sara Ruth (Fleming) Henderson; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Tip Vaughn of Social Circle, Jennifer Leah Wilson-Martin and William Martin, Sarita Lynn and R.G. Stewart; sister and brother-in-law, Audrey Owens and her husband, Walter Jenkins; brothers and sister-in-law, C.F. and Myrtle Henderson, Bobby Joe Henderson, all of Covington; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mr. Henderson will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010, 3:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Ashley Vaughn officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, April 24, from 4-7 PM.
