William Horace Goodman, 87, of Covington, was called to his eternal home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Abbey Hospice Inpatient Unit in Social Circle.

He was born Dec. 22, 1930.

Mr. Goodman was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert and Lillian Martin Goodman; his wife of 58 years, Mary Hazel (Durden) Goodman; and daughter, Linda Diane Kirk.

Mr. Goodman was a long time member of The Baptist Tabernacle, where he was a deacon emeritus for a number of years until his health declined. Mr. Goodman was employed by Lithonia Lighting in the tool and die division and for Evans Tool and Die in Conyers, retiring in 1993.

Mr. Goodman is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Judy Goodman, of Covington; brother, John Thomas (JT) and Faye Goodman, of Social Circle; son-in-law, the Rev. Jim Kirk, and granddaughter, Brittany Kirk, both of Aiken, South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends at Wheeler Funeral Home from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 10. Funeral services began at 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home, located at 11405 Brown Bridge Road, Covington, GA 30016 with the Rev. Stan Berrong, pastor of Glen Haven Baptist Church of McDonough, officiating.

Burial followed at the Covington City Cemetery in the Goodman Family Plot.
