Coach Wilbur “Bo” Fisher, 79 of Oxford, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Emory University Hospital. He was born in Porterdale to the late JC and Willie Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and four sisters.
Coach Fisher grew up in Porterdale, attended Newton County High School where he became an all-star football player, and earned a football scholarship to the University of Wyoming and University of Chattanooga. He returned to Newton County Schools where he taught education and coached football and track. Wilbur was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, and golf; by and large his life was football. He was a member of the Elks Club for 53 years.
Bo loved and was proud of his family.
Wilbur is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Musette Fisher and his two daughters Audra Fisher and Amy Fisher-Hill, one granddaughter Aleah Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Fisher will be held Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Wheeler Funeral Home with Pastor Dewey Fisher and Pastor Tim Bolen officiating.
