Mr. Wayne Loyce McMullen, 69, of Covington, died Aug. 20 at his residence. He was born and raised in Monticello and moved to Covington 40 years ago. His father was Edgar Loyce McMullen. He attended West Georgia College and was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church and loved to hunt and fish. Before retirement, he was a machinist for the Kliklok Company.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Gail Aldridge McMullen of Covington; mother Fleetie Smith McMullen of Monticello; son and daughter-in-law William Wayne and Tammy McMullen of Oxford; grandchildren Taylor McMullen and Aubrey McMullen; brother and sister-in-law Ronald J. "Ronnie" and Joan McMullen of Jackson; and nieces Jennifer Smith and Stacey Smith, both of Jackson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. today, Aug. 22, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello. Burial will be held in the Red Oak United Methodist Church Cemetery in Covington. The Rev. Charles Roper will officiate.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Stahl, Bobby Berry, Doug Coltharp, Reid Smith, Kevin Smith and Eric Perkins. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Carissa Wilmot, Hamilton State Bank, P.O. Box 31, Monticello, GA 31064.
