Mr. Walton Eugene Harris, Jr., 83, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Benton House. He was born in Corsicana, Texas to the late Walton Eugene Harris, Sr. and Beulah Riley Harris. He is preceded by his late wife, Julia Jeanette Hitchcock Harris, and his four sisters.

Gene was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He served our country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Yokohama, Japan. He enjoyed telling stories of his time in Japan and kept in touch with his army buddies until his passing. Gene enjoyed golf, fishing, gardening and baseball. He was a founding member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Conyers (now Epiphany Lutheran Church) where he and Jeanette were dedicated members. He enjoyed the Men’s Breakfast Bible Study group and had an unshakable faith in God and love of Christ throughout his entire life.

He is survived by his sons Paul Harris of Conyers and Jon Harris of Powder Springs; daughter Patty Fernandez of Alpharetta; grandchildren Andrew Harris, Alex Harris, Hannah Fernandez and Emily Fernandez; and great-grandchildren Hudson Harris and Robinson Harris.

A celebration of life service for Mr. Harris will be Sunday, April 10, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 2375 GA Highway 20, Conyers, GA 30013 with the Rev. David Armstrong-Reiner officiating. Condolences can be made online at wheelerfuneralhome.com.
