Mr. Tony Bowden, age 81, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022.  He was born in Social Circle on February 22, 1940 to Pete and Vira Bowden who have preceded him in death.  Mr. Bowden grew up in Social Circle and graduated from Social Circle High School.  He proudly served in the Untied States Army.  Mr. Bowden worked as a superintendent for Batson-Cook in Atlanta where he built numerous buildings all over metro Atlanta and the Southeastern United States.  While growing up in Social Circle he was a member of Sewell United Methodist Church and for many years he attended and was very active at Shiloh United Methodist Church.  Tony enjoyed fishing, gardening “growing the best tomatoes in Newton County”, he was a true fan of the Atlanta Braves, he enjoyed NASCAR, and nothing made him happier than being with his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Two”.  Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Sandra Bowden, his brothers Don and Jon Bowden.  

Mr. Bowden is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Tonia and Tony Paramore of Athens; his grandchildren Bryce and Samantha; his brother Jerry Bowden of Social Circle; his sister and brother-in-law Sue and Harold Malcom of Social Circle; his dog Lola; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.  

Funeral services for Mr. Bowden will be held at 2 o’clock Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Shiloh United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Wadley officiating.  Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Wednesday prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to either Sewell United Methodist Church, 1660 Sewell Church Road, Mansfield, GA 30055 or Shiloh United Methodist Church, 10 Almon Road, Covington, GA 30016.  The family respectfully ask that all in attendance please wear a mask and practice social distancing during this time together.
