Tommie Rand, 83 of Covington passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at his home. He was born in Enfield, North Carolina to the late Willie and Nora Lee Rand, Sr. Tommie was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He proudly served his country during the Korean War where he was disabled. Tommie was a member of the Masons and Disabled American Veterans. He loved Jazz and Blues music, travelling, his Cadillac, dressing well and wearing his hats. Tommie moved to Covington 11 years ago from Buffalo, New York. He adored his grandchildren and loved to talk about his childhood. Tommie is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 61 years, Carrie Rand, in 2012 and siblings Shelley Rand, Jasper Rand and Willie Rand.
He is survived by his children Nathaniel (Sarka) Rand of Naples, Italy; Tommie Howard (Linda) Rand, Jr. of Buffalo, NY.; Bobby (Marceda) Rand of Loganville; Johnny Mack Rand of Covington; Carolyn L Brown of Covington and Carlton H. Rand of Buffalo, New York.; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister Cozzett Allen and sister-in-law Carolyn Rand, along with two nieces and four nephews.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 at 10:30 am at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
