Tom Powell, of Covington, died August 3, 2009, at the age of 20. Born May 5, 1989 in Orange County, Florida, he attended Indian Creek Middle School, Eastside High School, and Alcovy High School. Tom enjoyed playing his guitar, loved all sports, especially boxing, and was a very talented artist and poet. He will be dearly remembered as a loving son, brother, friend, and encourager to all who knew him. Survivors include his parents, Thomas Clay and Sheryl Lynn Powell; sister, Natalie Marie Powell; brothers, Ryan Gregory Powell and Tyler Robert Rowlands, all of Covington; grandparents, Nancy Louise Englehardt, Onza Lee and Rod Richardson, Kathy Powell; several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Memorial Service for Tom will be held on Sunday, August 16, 6:30 PM at Factory Shoals Park.
