Thomas (Tom) S. Brown, Sr., of Oxford, passed away June 22, 2011, at the age of 85. Mr. Brown was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and retired from General Motors after several years of dedicated service. Mr. Brown served as Past Master of the Oglethorpe Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lucia (Bulfin) Brown.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Doug Whitley; son and daughter-in-law, Thomas (Stan) Jr., and Mary Brown, all of Oxford; grandchildren, Tim Mobley, Greg Mobley, Chris Mobley, Drew Mobley, Crystal Brown Kelly, T.J. Brown; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy Thomas of CA; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Joan Brown of Stockbridge; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services for Mr. Brown will be held Saturday, June 25, 2011, 11:00 AM, at Macedonia Baptist Church, in Oxford, with Rev. William Herndon and Rev. Frank Daws officiating, and interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Friday, June 24, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.
