Mrs. Shirley Ann Free, age 77, of Covington passed August 28, 2013 at Newton Medical Center.  She was born March 31, 1936 in Cornelia, Georgia to the late Jessie and Mae Elrod Cantrell.  Mrs. Free grew up in Cornelia and graduated from South Habersham High School.  After she married, she moved with her husband to Covington where they raised their family.  Mrs. Free worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Wood Office Supply.  She was of the Baptist faith and kept her membership at her home church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Cornelia.  Mrs. Free enjoyed gardening and working around her home.  She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Elwood Free her children and their spouses; Rick and Shirley Cowan Free of Covington and Regina and Darrell Phillips of Conyers, her grandson Richard Free of Pennsylvania, her sister and brother-in-law Clarice and Loyd Free of Cornelia along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Free will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Chapel of J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Cheek officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.  A church service will be held for Mrs. Free at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at her home church, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 8503 Pea Ridge Road, Cornelia, GA 30531 with Reverend Loyd Free and Reverend Greg Purcel officiating.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.  J.C.
