Sheila Skelton Barnes of Covington, passed away June 18, 2010, at the age of 52. Mrs. Barnes was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. She worked for New Rock Day Treatment Center and Kidz Net for 15 years. She loved going to the beach with her family, and enjoyed flower gardening in her yard. She was a great friend to many, and a wonderful sister. Mrs. Barnes was an advocate for breast cancer awareness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Spearman and Helen Beatrice (Curry) Skelton. Survivors include her husband, Pat Barnes; daughters, Tracy Lynn McKoon, Laura McEvers; sons, Joshua Sorrells, Chris Barnes, all of Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Morris Smith of Jackson, Cathy and Richard Caton of Covington; brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Ann Skelton of Conyers; 8 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Funeral Services for Mrs. Barnes will be held Sunday, June 20, 2010, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. John Dallas officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, June 19, from 5-8 PM.
