Sara Elizabeth Ayers, of Oxford, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018, at the age of 89. Mrs. Ayers was born and raised on her family’s farm. She enjoyed working outside, cooking meals for her family and Sunday afternoon visits from friends. A member of Gum Creek Presbyterian Church, in Oxford, Mrs. Ayers actively participated in several groups. She was involved in the Adult One Sunday School Class, the Gum Creek Golden Group, and was a lifetime member of The Presbyterian Women. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alice S. Wilkerson; parents, E. Ramey and Runnie McWaters Sammons; and brother, E.R. Sammons.

Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Talmadge Ayers; daughter and sons-in-law, Hazel and Ed Brand, Doug Wilkerson; grandchildren, Allison Wilkerson, Ben and Amanda Brand; as well as several nieces and nephews.  

Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home, Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6  to 8 p.m. A Funeral Service for Mrs. Ayers will be held Friday, October 26, 2018, 1 p.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington, with Dr. Kerry Duncan and Pastor Ron Heiber officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park, in Covington. Flowers are accepted, or donations made be made to Gum Creek Presbyterian Women, in care of Mrs. Jane Parker, 135 Bostwick Road, Oxford, GA 30054.
