Mrs. Sandra Annette (Cowan) Presley a lifelong resident of Covington died Friday August 7, 2009 at the age of 68. She was born in Porterdale Georgia to the late Charles S. and Rachel J. (Dial) Cowan. She worked several years as a teacher’s aid and as a bus driver for the Newton County Board of Education. Mrs. Presley was a member of Oxford Baptist Church since 1963. She was the prayer room coordinator, helped with children’s church and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Trio with Bertha Dial Cason and Brenda Cowan Coltharp. She also worked with the Special Olympics. Sandra was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Tracey Lynn Presley.

She is survived by her husband: Johnny Presley; son and daughter-in-law: John Richard and Angalee Presley of Oxford; daughter and son-in-law: Sonya (Presley) and Byron Hopper of Covington;sister and brother-in-law: Brenda (Cowan) and John Coltharp of Oxford; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jabo and Kathy Cowan of Covington, Greg and Evon Cowan of Social Circle; 10 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews other family and close friends.

The family received friends at Wheeler Funeral Home on Saturday, August 8, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. The funeral services for Mrs. Presley will be held at 3 p.m. today at Oxford Baptist Church with Rev. Shawn Nix and Dr. Alan Posey officiating. Interment will be in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
