Ruth Stokes Steadham, 94 of Porterdale, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Pruitt Health Care of Covington. She was born at home in Covington to the late Herschel and Fannie Mae McClure Stokes. Mrs. Steadham was the oldest member of County Line Baptist Church. She became a member at age 18 and remained a member until her death. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmama or “Bean-Bean” and great-grandmother. Mrs. Steadham loved her family and the people at County Line Baptist Church. She was a great cook, loved people in general and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren. Mrs. Steadham learned to drive at 59 years old. She is preceded in death by both parents, her loving husband of 42 years J. Hugh Steadham in 1979, daughter Hugh Ann Caylor in 2014, sister Mrs. Marion Hudson of Covington, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Cordia Stokes of Covington and brother Mr. Terrell Stokes of Porterdale.

Mrs. Steadham is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Donna and Randle Wilson of McDonough, grandchildren David and Sabrina Wilson of Dublin., Rhonda and Darrell Whitton of Newnan., and Kenny and Traci Lott of North Richland Hills, Texas., six great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 4 p.m. at County Line Baptist Church with Pastor J. Clifford Brown officiating. Interment will follow the service at County Line Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:30-4 p.m. Guests may sign the online register at wheelerfuneralhome.com.
