Roy Melvin Wilson, 84, of Covington, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. He was born in Fairmont to the late Sollie and Nellie Wilson. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He attended church at Cornish Mountain Baptist. He was a law enforcement officer and served for DeKalb County for 20 years. He was an avid gardener and loved to bird watch and cook.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Ragan; sister, Brenda West.
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Virginia Wilson; son, Charles “Chuck” Wilson; daughters, Trina (John) Deerman and Pamela Wilson; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; 1 sister; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 12 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. John Deerman, Jr officiating. The family received friends prior to the service at the funeral home 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Burial followed at Cornish Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Oxford.
