Rositha Norvel Bolden, 53, passed away March 3, 2011, at her residence in Covington, GA. Mrs. Bolden was a retired Sergeant of the United States Army after 20 years of service. During her service, she received an Army Commendation medal, Army Achievement medal, Army Good Conduct medal (5th Award), National Defense Service medal, Non-commissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), and the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. Upon her retirement, she continued her education at Dekalb Technical College, where she received her Associates Degree; and then received a bachelor's degree in computer science, from AIU. She taught school at Ficquett Elementary, in Covington. She enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, baking and working with computers. Mrs. Bolden loved playing dominos. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and very loyal friend to many.
Survivors include her husband, Renard Jarrett of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Serena Bolden and Raheem Jones, Shalonda and Keith Blackstock; granddaughter, Sanaya Jones, all of Lithonia; parents, Herman and Marianne Norvel of Colorado Springs, CO; sisters and brothers-in-law, Anita and Kermit Scott of Elgin, SC, Janetta and Donald Smith of Anchorage, AK; mother-in-law, Hazel Jarrett of Decatur; sisters-in-law, Daisy Dyer, and her husband, Michael, of Riverdale, Vertonia Jarrett; brothers-in-law, Freddie Jarrett, Charles McElhaney, all of Decatur; nieces and nephews, Kermit and Julian Scott, Nicole and Trevor Smith.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bolden will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2011, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., with Pastor Judy Sutton officiating, and interment following in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, in Decatur. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Tuesday, March 8, from 5-8 PM.
