Rose Marie Watson, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at the age of 89. Mrs. Watson, trained as a registered nurse, was a member of the Newton Medical Center Auxiliary and the Newton County Public Library. Additionally, she dedicated time to the Covington Woman’s Club, as well as various bridge and garden clubs. Mrs. Watson had a gift for needlework – winning awards for different projects. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Vernon Watson; parents, Martin J. and Catherine (Muggenthaler) Smith.

Survivors include her daughters and spouses, Catherine and Michael Nesset, of Marietta, Cheryl Watson of Marblehead, Massachusetts, Christine and Bill Smith, Chattanooga, Tennessee, Caroline Watson and Melissa Caro, both of Washington D.C., son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Stacy Watson of Sparks, Maryland; grandchildren, Ryan Nesset, Lauren Kingman, Kyle Smith, Kurt Smith, Kip Smith, Karter Smith, Kelly Smith, Kadie Ann Smith, great-grandchildren, Charlie Kingman, Carter Kingman, Bennett Smith, Mac Smith, Luke Smith, Lulu June Smith; sister, Donna Yaeche; brothers, Jim Smith, Gerry Smith; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Watson will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, 3 p.m., in Lawnwood Memorial Park, 1111 Access Road, in Covington, with Pastor Mike Franklin officiating. Friends may visit with the family, two hours prior to her service, from 1 – 3 p.m., at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Covington.
