Robert “Jack” Johnson of Covington, passed away June 19, 2010, at the age of 78. Mr. Johnson served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Bibb Manufacturing Company after 47 years, and attended Stewart Baptist Church for many years. He loved all types of cars; was an avid vegetable and flower gardener, and enjoyed sharing his vegetables with everyone. Mr. Johnson loved animals, especially dogs, and enjoyed working on his farm. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard J. and Lucille (Slaughter) Johnson. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Mattie Lou (Walden) Johnson; daughter and son-in-law, Regina Johnson (Cliff) Prosser; granddaughter, Christy Prosser; brothers, Bill Johnson, Idus Johnson, all of Covington. Funeral Services for Mr. Johnson will be held Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 11:00 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 3134 Floyd Street, with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Monday, June 21, from 5-7 PM.
